I think the other Wybie was awesome, in that he shows her the color of the other mother, without having the benefit of Coraline's thoughts to show us the way. I think the real Wybie was another matter. The whole ending annoyed me, because he was used as a deus ex machina, rather than having her know the hand was back, and being able to defeat it on her own terms, which one of the things I feel made her special.

Also, I sort of felt the whole book was about learning to deal with growing up on your own, because she had to do everything to save her parents by herself; she had no help. But, then Wybie is there helping her, and is a kid. Of course he would eventually believe her; children are much more likely to believe one of their own.

But, I think the rest of it was done wonderfully, and the garden was WAY cooler than the room in the book version. I also really liked the other father attacking her at that point and giving her the marble. She had to defeat two things to get two marbles, and then the other father, so why not have her get all of the marbles by defeating "monsters."
