Gargoyles #8 - At last!

It might have taken, seemingly, forever but it's finally out. Gargoyles #8! and it's fantasmic.

So, a review of sorts...

**SPOILERS AHOY!**

My goddess, where to start? Literally, I'm not sure where to start with the jumping around that continues in this issue(granted I think I'm getting more used to it with this one than the last so I followed it well enough in the first read through). Well how about the tiny bit that only had one small mention... Vinnie! Heh. It was amusing to see his excitement about going to Japan, though I didn't really doubt it I'm glad to see his leaving NY doesn't count him as anywhere near out of the series. Hope to see more of what happens when he gets there and finds out what his, assumed, new job entails.

That aside... First there's Shari and Thailog continuing with Shari's 'The story is told, though who can say if it be true...' tangent. While Thailog's grin is creepy as hell I was smirking along with him over his high and mighty attitude of catching a plothole in Shari's story telling, then his somewhat 'eye-roll' response to her ignoring him. Shari = seriously climbing the scale for favorite characters here.  At this point I'm agreeing with the idea that's been thrown out there of her being immortal. If anything it was a given that there's more to her than meets the eye, as has been revealed bit by bit starting with her entering the story as a more than a background character. So the assumption that there's more to see from her, including the possibility of immortality, is a pretty fair bet.

Since it seems that Arthur and Macbeth's talking is linked to Shari's stories, at least in how they compliment one another, I suppose I'll look over that next(saving the clan for last). First of all Ioved how Macbeth and Arthur just seemed to click over their similarities. If they were two female characters I'd already be writing slash on them(Yes. I'm a slashaholic and yes, I'm mentally pushing Amp & Lex together) Anywho their conversation over their immortality, well placed so as to give the allusion that Shari is most likely one as well, was nice. How Macbeth described his as a result of making a deal with 'a demon'. Cute. And Arthur's saying of 'All things are true, few things are accurate.' see: Link to Shari's stories. I think it's not so much that any of her stories aren't true but rather that there's at least some small part of each that's worth taking note of in the future. That said, there's still the big deal of the issue. Learning more about the London Clan and dealing with the reason they're in London in the first place.

Loved how the speculation on the female being named Coco and the male most likely being whom Lex was calling Amp was true. Though I would like to know where Staghart gets 'Amp' from. I mean Constance being Coco can make sense. The latter? Not so much. Pop/Garg culture reference perhaps? Heh. In terms of the clan itself I was surprised to learn it consisted of 196 members, 25 eggs, and no beasts. Addressing each individually, 196 members?! Wow, I mean I can't seem to recall the numbers Greg gave(or did he?) on the average clan size but eitherway that seems to be a lot(given the numbers we've seen in this day not coming near such so far). What's more that places their numbers high enough to avoid extinction, in average terms of species, without fear of dying out from an accident(lest it was mega big on the scale of Demona vs. humanity), in-breeding, ect. As for the 25 eggs, I can see their point. Not exceeding their means is very smart and most likely what's kept them around so long. Then again the whole idea that they need to isolate the female gargs in their third heat to avoid breeding, yikes. Why did that make me flinch? *thinks* Ahem... No garg-beasts. I'm not sure if I find it entirely outrageous though I would like to know why, hopefully that will be covered, along with learning more about the clan, before they leave London.

Also in connection to the London Clan parts, we have Xanatos seemingly making a move for the stone viva Coyote, Coldsteel, and a Steel & Iron Clan robot(s). Loved the parts of the fighting seen so far. Lex saving Amp then three minutes later being saved by him. *grin* Coco's little 'screw guns', flipping in the air, and tearing off the Steel Clan's arms was uber cool. The tentacles on the cover being Coldsteel going after Hudson, only to be stopped by Coldstone & Coldfire. Wicked.

So... yeah.
Overal rating: 'Utterly and completely fantasmic' on a scale of 'kindling' to '*speachlessly joytastic*' ;p

Oh and can't wait for #9, hopefully there won't be the delays with that one.
