In Birds of Prey #119 we learn that Platinum Flats apparently intercepts with the Marvel Universe as Huntress, post capturing a supervillian type who was terrorizing people, gets scolded by the police and shunned by the bystanders. Shocked by the pure hate displayed by these Marvel invaders Huntress gives the most adorably sad face..

... gets off on her bike with a 'screw you too!'-type response and jets back home. There we find that Babs has made the move final in a big way via setting up an entire company of her own, i.e. 'Clocktower Systems', in Platinum Flats. The only problem I have with this is her 'I sank our last penny into this place' line. Huh? Since when does Oracle have money woes? Since when can't she just conviently filter funds from villain's various schemes into her own accounts or something of that nature? Seeing as she set up her Oracle persona on her own it's fair to assume she'd found a way to get money without Batman's help so why is it suddenly an issue?

That aside, it was a pretty good issue. We meet our villians, i.e. a group who seems to run Platinum Flats in a very Pride-like manner(more Marvel behavior, hmmm...). Previously undetected until the earlier troublemaker brought the Bird's attention to the area. Misfit tells Babs about Black Alice likely being her sister, making for a good moment with the two. Oracle and Calculator seem to set aside some things and swap favors for information. And Babs is totally using Manhunter to stalk Dinah.

About that... On one hand the writing tries to make you associate it with something she'd picked up from Batman. Spying on everyone, even your friends. Yet the subtext loving part of things will always make it out to be her keeping an eye on her Dinah. Oracle, she has goals and at the first sign of a crack in that marriage with Ollie(and you know there should be cracks there!) she'll be there. Conviently 'just dropping by'. Well... that would have been the plan until Dinah spotted Manhunter, leading to a brawl of Dinah vs. Manhunter. No offense to the skilled fighter, but my money is seriously on the girl with the sonic scream(who also happens to be a pretty badass fighter herself).

Cute, cute, cute, cute! I so love Kerschl's work on this. Oh and the story isn't so bad either, ;p Teen Titans: Year One #5 is primarily about the story of Wonder Girl going out on a date with Speedy. Though it's Aqualad, Kid Flash, and the turtle that made this issue for me. Especially the scene were Kid Flash walks in on Garth talking to his turtle. While he first finds it weird, once Garth's out of the room he decides to get some advice of his own. The response?

How can you look at that turtle in all it's seriousness and not chuckle. It's just so cute.

And later there's a scene with Batman showing up to, seemingly, inspect their hideout and play parent. Garth completely freaks out calling him 'Mr. Batman'. Awwww.

Yet, it's not all cuteness and such. While Speedy and Wonder Girl's date starts out cute enough, with Speedy begging to use Green Arrow's car to take her out and them having a sweet moment on the beach complete with kiss, it ends badly. One of the enemies of the Arrow clan uses the chance to steal G.A.'s car resulting in the date being cut short to look for the car. Even then it could have been saved yet when, while facing the bad guys, Wonder Girl smashes the Arrow car to save Speedy it goes bad fast. Speedy, sensing G.A.'s rage over the damage, yells at Donna and storms off. The issue ends with Donna crying in her room. She's so adorable/sad it makes you want to smack Roy upside the head for hurting her feelings like that. With one issue left though I'm sure they'll patch things up... hopefully remaining friends and a team.

I was actually a little disappointed with Trinity #3, it's not that it was bad(was actually fairly good) though it felt short somehow. *shrug* Anywho, it was good. Starting from the last issue with the Justice League trying to stop Konvikt from destroying the city Green Lantern is down on the first page. As the rest of the league, sans the power trio, try to take on the beast they manage nothing. In fact, while fighting, we even have a little conversation between Konvikt and the little impish guy on his head, Graak, in which we find out that Graak is merely hi translator of sorts. The only part of that I raise an eyebrow to is when it's stated that Konvikt will stop destroying things when they back down and they refuse. Wha?! The huge alien your trying to stop says he'll stop if you stop trying to beat him up for five seconds and you refuse? *is baffled*

Anywho things get progressively worse, Konvikt standing unflinching to attacks of super speed, sonic cries, hammer hits, and more. It's at this point the trio show up. M and Riddler watch in interest as Black Canary, despite being the leader of the JLA, is willing to let Supes, Wondy, and Bats take over without a thought. They also take interest in how despite them being called equals it appears to M that the latter two defer to Superman by letting him handle Konvikt while they handle the bystanders/checking on the injuried/ect. While interesting I'm more inclined to side with Riddler in his defense that they're only doing this because having Superman(super strong alien) against Konvikt(super strong alien) is a good idea. Kind of like how all the heroes let each other have the first go when it's someone from their rogue's gallery(if it's lex you call supes, if joker you call bats, if circe you call wondy, ect.) Only things don't go as smoothly as planned. Within seconds of the trio stepping in Supes gets K.O.'ed leaving us with a cliffhanger and an extra story about Wildcat and a girl named Rita. Seeing as getting to 3 issues without turning people off it is the general goal I can only hope that #4 continues on the path set so far.
