Two issues left to go and I'm taking bets. Five bucks says Yorick's days are numbered.

Finally managed to get to the store today and it's a heavy week. I got JLA: Wedding Special, JSA, The Walking Dead, Wonder Girl, Suicide Squad, Countdown, Booster Gold, Black Adam, Batman Confidential, and Fables. I've read all but the last four so let's do this...

In Justice League of American: Wedding Special while the heroes enjoy their pre-wedding parties the villians are busy with a forming a league of their own with big ambitions in mind. First of all I LOVE the opening. The villian parody of the justice league formation was pure genius right down to the parralles (superman=lex, batman=joker, wonder woman=cheetah). I could have done without the stripper bit, it was cheesy/corny filler and nothing more. Adored the 'Batman knows all' moments, was greatness. The GL moment was okay, I guess? Not a big follower/fan of the GL storyline so it wasn't too interesting to me.
This aside the first fight of the issue. Could Gehenna have been any more annoying? 'Trap!Trap!Trap!' Sounded like some n00b on the 4chan forums for crying outloud. That aside it was a wicked fight(all of them in this one were really). First there's Firestorm vs. Killer Frost. A decent enough battle in itself, yet then Lex, Joker, and Cheetah step in to tear Mr.Flamey a new one. Vicious. Brutal. Completely awesome. Could have done without the overcrowded two page villain splash afterwards with the introduction of the Injustice League but whatever.
Next scene we find the female heroes of the DCU enjoying a bachelorette party on a rather bland page with a few issues. First of all the caption calls it Diana Lance's party. Diana? Ummm... Typo much. Bad Editors. Secondly the art on the page is all rather wonky with my main two issues being Huntress in back on the right looking very much like Batwoman with knee pads as well as the poor work on Black Canary & Wonder Woman's faces. Oh and was I the only one terrified of those guys? I mean nearly naked men in trojan costumes working at a place called the 'Meat Locker' and the press was concerned with the guy's party. Ha. Tabloid gold right there.
The issue closes with two very awesome fights. First we have Joker, Shadow Thief, and Fatality vs. Batman, Red Arrow, and Geo Force at the scene of the Firestorm fight. Then we have Killer Frost, Dr. Light, and Cheetah vs. Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl at the hospital visiting Firestorm. Two completely brutal and fantastic fights. Love them, love them, love them. Can't wait for the next one. ^.^
P.S. Is it just me or did Joker look a tad too effeminate throughout this issue. Hmmm...

I adore Power Girl. She's like this uber cool muscular semi-butch without being too muchso superhero chick. She's actually makes me think alittle of Jackie from workout only with bigger boobs, cuter hair, and superpowers. Seriously, think about that for a moment. Heh. That said though I quite enjoyed Justice Society of America #9. It starts with Power Girl as she reminices about the past. The world she left behind and the only family she had dying in her arms. This is sparked by a dream she has in which he is clawing from his grave speaking to her. Later in the issue, post one JSA/Fire Fighter breakfast/charity Wildcat fight later Power Girl shows off her leadership skills/decision making in handling the fire. Leaving Starman to form a black hole to extinguish the flames she and the others are shocked as... out from the charred remains of the building steps Kal-L with an unconsious Starman in his arms wondering aloud 'Where am I?' *grin* Can't wait for more.

Taking a break from DC let's take a look at The Walking Dead. Always a delight to read this one was no exception. With the suicide of Carol heavy on everyone's minds they make do handling it better as this is only the, I don't even know the number, death since this all began. Andrea and Dale's relationship along with Dale's jealousy was cute. On the flip side nothing good can come of this Tyreese/Michonne fling. I don't care for it one bit. The ending, despite the guy at the store's claims, wasn't too shocking. I mean really a whole issue of them assuring themselves their safe and their fence unbreachable mixed with lots of relaxing and sex means everything HAS to go wrong. This is Walking Dead people, comic in which Murphy's Law is all that exists. Eitherway I still enjoyed it quite a bit.

Countdown 33 continues on this path of blandness for me along with all the most recent Countdowns. I only continue to read for the faint sliver of hope something, anything, decent will occur. For this one the only story that kept my attention was the Flash/Piper/Trickster bit in the beginning and I'm not even a Flash fan. Blah...

On a whim I picked up Wonder Girl and I have a bit to say on it. To start, I loathe the art of Sanford Greene. It's anime-esque cheesyness does nothing for me. I mean really what the hell is with Cassie's eyes being closed in every single frame of her fighting? Last time I checked vision helps in a battle and, sans the Jedi & DareDevil, is pretty much essential. The only tiny piece I was okay with was the image on the second page of the young goofy/adorble looking Cassie flying with Wonder Woman, a very 'awwww' moment.
As for the story itself. Was a good read if not standard. Cassie is feeling lost and alone, with the Amazons being dispersed and Wonder Woman off doing her thing, leaving her feeling as though she needs to handle the clean up on her own. It doesn't help the media naming her an enemy(or at the very least pariah) for her part in the goddess-be-damned 'Amazons Attack' scenerio. All in all it was okay, if they got someone else to do the art I'd probably continue to read it regularly. Yet if the story gets less cliche I'll probably be picking up the next one anyways. So we'll see when the time comes.

Lastly in review for now is Suicide Squad. Amanda Waller kicks ass. The issue was okay, not sure if this will become a regular read for me. Not too much to say on it really. Ummm...  I think the dinosaur on the last page was messed up. I've been looking at dinosaur anatomy & such lately to practice drawing them and it's tail is going the wrong way(it would be straighter to keep balance) and it's not even looking at Rick lying in front of him/her but rather at the fourth wall. Way to break the fourth wall dino. ;p

*yawn* 'bout time I finished that. Typed it once then my computer freaked and erased it, oh yes there was much cursing. I'm off to finish working on some FF drawings and watch the House marathon(love that cynical bastard). Ta ta.
