I never use 'ain't' but it was needed for this title. The thing is, my comic book guy has rather questionable taste at best. One could even say his taste in comics is just plain horrible. My proof? Well...

1) It took him 42 issues of Countdown to see that it wasn't as great as he formerly thought. Granted I think this is just because he appears to be a Jimmy Olsen fanboy(though that could be a reason in itself).
2) He thinks Diana/Tom is one of the best things to happen in Wonder Woman so far.
3) For weeks he tried to get anyone who walked through the door to check out Kick Ass. It's worse than it sounds.
4) That whole election series DC ran, 'Indecision', he found it thrilling and fantastic.
5) He positively loved Oracle #1.

And he wonders why I rarely take his advice. :\

As much as I enjoy reading Kick-Ass, it's not something to push on casual readers (or anyone not a comic geek). The simple reason for that is this: No one knows when it comes out! It's been almost a year since it started and there's only been 5 issues done. The only things I hear about it are the release dates getting pushed back and the many, many, reprints being done. The only thing that'll keep a regular reading audience is a story that has people wanting more, and honestly Kick-Ass doesn't for the wait between issues.

I want to read more, but I'm in my LCS almost every week, so I know when a new issue comes out. Others probably don't 'cause they won't be checking dates weekly, and that's going to hurt sales in the long run. If they can't get it out on time soon then they're in trouble.

*looks up* oh wow that's a bit of a tangent rant. Sorry.

BTW does your "comic book guy" also want to see Babs be Batgirl again? 'Cause that wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I semi-enjoyed Kick Ass for the first issue or so but around the third issue I just wasn't much liking it anymore. Some of the things in it just rub me the wrong way I guess nevermind the scheduling annoyances you mentioned.

As for Babs, that's actually that's one of the things we agree on. Babs is simply way cooler as Oracle(at least when someone who knows her is writing her). He was even surprised and 'wtf'ing over the rumor that she might have a cape in her future again.

I like Kick-Ass for what it is, but there's nothing really deep or complex about it, just fun, violence, and pretty Romita jr art. Just a different take on real world superheroes.

Agree on the Babs thing. The whole walking thing aside, Batgirl would be a step backwards for the character. And despite what some people are saying Batwoman isn't suitable either for almost the exact same reasons.

She gave up the costumed life voluntarily and her going back to it "permanently" (as much as that word has any weight in comics) would be ignoring all her character growth.

4) It was thrilling? I think I picked one up out of amusement, but thrilling is not a word that suits D:

1) Blah Countdown. BLAH I tell you.
