Wow.
Simply, wow.
I saw the movie a few years back at my aunt's house, since that household seems to hold nearly every movie that'd come out in the past decade or so, and adored it. So much so that I went out and got a copy as soon as I'd returned home to watch it again(a rare thing for me to do). It was beautifully done. The message fantastically portrayed in a way that made you feel it.
In the coming years as I got more into comics I'd notice the trade paperback of it on shelves at the story yet every time I went to pick it up just didn't feel the need. Well I finally got the need...
And all I can say is 'wow'.
If I'd read this first the movie would have seemed like crap to me. It's that good. I actually had tears in my eyes at a few parts. Yes, the writing in the first chapter or so is semi-dry yet it's worth it to continue. I've never read anything this brilliant and I doubt many others will come close. It saddens me that of all the people who'd comment on it when seeing me read it, all have only expirienced the movie and will most likely never pick up the source.
I may do a proper right up on it later...
