Just finished devouring the Green Arrow & Black Canary: Wedding Special and all I can say is 'WTF?' What just happened there?! I mean there was this and then that and then "Swick!" and finally "Chunk!" and one very confused Gargoylekitty scratching her head for a moment before rushing to grab her laptop and type this.
I have no opinions yet on whether or not I like this, so to compile my thoughts I'll go over it.

Did they just kill Green Arrow? I mean after the rushed big battle scene I'm not entirely sure of what I saw. *looks back* It's a clone, or mind control, or some other thing right?! Eh? I mean one moment I'm reading it and thinking 'Oh shit I don't wanna see them do it, ewww... honeymoon scene, totally not needed.' the next moment Ollie's eyes tint red(or is this just me seeing that) and he attacks her, *struggle* *struggle* *arrow through his neck* dead Ollie. WTF?! Arg! DC stop it with the damn 'tune into this comic series coming out in the future to find out what happens' BS. You did it with Amazons Attack and I'm still bitchy about it, so what the hells is this?

Initial thoughts: Art : I rather don't care for the art style, at least in terms of Black Canary. It makes her look alittle funny/cartoony in a way I rather dislike(edit: Actually the more I think about it the more I find she bears a remarkable resemblance to Katchoo from 'Stranges in Paradise', doesn't she). Same with Supes, he looks way weird and shiny eyed.
The little lead up was a nice look back at their history though I still don't buy their relationship. If anything I believe them to be more lust than love, the following fight/almost sex scene following proving that. (sidenote: LOOK! SHE'S WEARING A BRA SUDDENLY!!!: http://norprostitute.blogspot.com/2007/09/boobs-dont-work-that-way.html) GA begging for sex was blah. I suppose if I had more love for the pairing I would have found it cute, but I don't and I didn't.Though I will admit to the talk over the invitations being cute.
Now I have mixed feelings on the reactions of the various characters. For one, did DC decide that Birds of Prey #109 never happened or something that with these wedding spoilers they suddenly feel the need to make Babs into this overly supportive friend drone who completely supports her friend marrying this cheating bastard? "Oh good for you, baby..." What's that? Cheesy. Reactions I do agree with? The whole first row, GL, Red Arrow, Plastic Man, Zatanna, Vixen, and Batman. Though truthfully the only truly out of character one was Oracle. *shakes head*
*turns page* AHHH!!! It's the creepy Supes. *shudders* Superman and Wonder Woman's reactions were kind of interesting. I mean it wasn't just the art that made Superman kind of creepy to me here, it was also his overjoyful reaction. He was really happy. An all American Boy type happy. Wonder Woman's reaction worked for me, her explaination logical and reasoning sincere. I like it. One thing that struck me as unusual/unique about how this scene(dialog and visuals) almost put Wonder Woman in a very motherly role and Superman in a child's role, very excited and innocent. It was different.
Nothing to really say about the dialog between Sivana & Deathstroke, saw it coming(or at least some sort of villian action).
The missing moments of the party openings from the JLA: Wedding Special got filled in here and I was at least amused. Though I dismissed the stripper bit in the JLA one this one was cute. That and I was cracking up at the room they originally had set up for the party, it fit. From the 'Congrats Ollie! Keep that arrow in it's quiver' sign to the various outfits of the strippers, it fit. Little details I found most amusing, sans sign, were the stripper's(I spied an Ivy, Harley, Powergirl, ect. all in stripper form), and the donkey in lingerie, don't wanna know what that was about. The girls party was amusing, no scary half naked trojan men this time, and I loved Zatanna's shout at the opening to the scene. With a lack of naked Trojan men I found these male stripper's costumes more amusing.

The Wedding...
I actually liked the two page splash of the wedding. The small details brought a smile to my face. Plastic Man getting hit by Huntress for getting in her way(along with the people around her amused by it), Powergirl has flowers in her hair, Supes & Lois share a 'look', Ollie looks in awe, Gar looking up at Powergirl's boobs, there was so much going on I just loved it. Only two things I loathed: Oracle's glasses look funny, and Wonder Woman seriously needs to pull up her top or something.
I'm going to jump over the wedding dress as I've vented enough over it: http://gargoylekitty.livejournal.com/24589.html, so I'll skip to the fight. WTF JUST HAPPENED?! It was all too fast. Like an 'oh shit I still gotta put this fight in' kind of thing. In trade for that BS fight we get no vows, no 'kiss the bride' moment, no awww... just this stupid make Black Canary become an insane bride ignoring the fight to grab her ring. Dissapointment extreme. It was stupid, it saddens me. Oh and I don't care if that dumbass is wearing a cup a kick from a high heeled Black Canary is still, I imagine as I have no personal knowledge on this, hurt like hell. I mean seriously.
So fight's over, nothing but two full and two partial pics of the wedding after the fight and we suddenly find ourselves somewhere I wish to never think of again. The Green Arrow/Black Canary honeymoon scene. *shudder* Luckily before they yiff like wild furries GA goes crazy, BC stabs him in the neck, and it's "HOLY $#!+&@%!!! BETTER CHECK OUT THE NEW GREEN ARROW/BLACK CANARY SERIES STARTING NEXT MONTH!!!"
