They cast a bunch of motherfucking white as they come Disney channel rejects...
*facepalm* I know the whole great thing about Avatar was that the characters weren't supposed to be of any specific race, that no nation was all the same, though this bullshit. Nothing but Hollywood casting of whoever they think will sell. If this was High School Musical or nonsense of a similar ilk then whatever, though this is Avatar. Even if your going with an all white cast at least choose some better people. I mean, Jesse McCartney as Zuko?! JESSE MCCARTNEY as ZUKO?! Ugh...

That said I'll withhold further 'RAGE' until this is 1) proven as the cast by more sources and 2) there's more to see(ex. production shots/trailer).

This had better be some kind of bad fucking joke! There's no way you can deny that Sokka and Katara are at least BROWN folk! And this time, I'm not buying into that bullshit of a notion called 'blind casting' when finding people to play the roles. What the hell!? >.< If I wanted a Disney Channel original movie, I'd ask for one. I'm not asking for using 'asians' (as big a group as that is) for the parts. I'm just asking that the director use as much work on casting as the people who created Avatar did in creating the characters. Hell, there may have been a character reason why Sokka and Katara were darker skinned. Truly, the race of people in Avatar was actually quite questionable at times. And that's what was refreshing about the show. A number of differently raced AUDIENCES can surely find a character to relate to in the show, even if just a little bit. Sure, everything was based with an Asian theme, but a lot of characters didn't fit the word 'asian' when it came to design. Jet and his group, Haru, Ty Lee, Suki, and the Sandbenders don't necessarily fit the typical 'asian' mold. So I'm not looking for a casting of one race. Just a cast of multiple races just to give that refreshing feel of variety that the cartoon portrays...

And yes, since Zuko is my favorite character and I hate Jesse McCartney with a passion, I'm even more pissed off! If this crap is true, I'm going to simply not watch the movie. I don't care if it turns out to be even remotely good. If it has Jesse as my favorite character -or any character for that matter- it sucks in my book.

It really says something when the announcement makes the majority of fans beg for it to be a joke, which is the primary reaction to this. I can only hope that's the case, despite the Entertainment Weekly article.
